Trip to Thailand!!

Sooooooo, we've just made it back from Thailand, and I'm having so much fun reliving all of the wonderful memories made there by going thru my pictures.  I wanted to share a few (well, maybe more than a few!) of the pictures I took on the trip with you :).  I hope you enjoy!  And.... if you ever get the chance to go to Thailand, do it!!  The people are so friendly and helpful, the country is beautiful and the food is amazing (and healthy!) :).

Here we are the first morning in Bangkok at breakfast in the hotel (with Jenny, our tour guide of sorts, and my friend, Brenda, who joined me on this trip).  Jenny had actually lived with Brenda's family here in Michigan about 9 years ago as a foreign exchange student.  They've kept in touch over the years through facebook (gotta love technology!) but have not seen each other in those 9 years.  Jenny prepared a fun itinerary (seriously, a typed 4 page itinerary!) for our time in Bangkok!  It was an amazing experience :).

These are pics from our hotel overlooking the river in Bangkok...

We took a couple of fun water taxi rides on the river....

Then, we found a tuk tuk driver to continue our tour of the city.....

We visited the Wat Pho Temple, home to a huge reclining budha.....

Afterwards we had lunch at a Thai restaurant and enjoyed the most amazing passion fruit juice....

Life on the streets in Bangkok....

A wonderful open air market.....  Lots of fun vendors to shop from, and we even had a fabulous foot massage at the market!

The view of the river from our hotel room....

Jenny and I the next morning before we started our adventures....

Elephants are very prevalent in the Thai culture, even in the landscape!

We took another tuk tuk ride (Brenda did not drive!).  They drive on the opposite side of the road in Thailand, so we didn't even consider driving!

We visited the famous Jim Thompson house.  He was an American architect that came to Thailand in the 1940s after World War II and became an importer of Thai silk,  He also built a fabulous house from 6 smaller teak houses that he found throughout Asia.  We weren't allowed to take pictures inside the house, but we did take a few pictures of the restaurant that is on the grounds of his house.  We had one of our best Thai meals here (and more yummy drinks, too)!  The mango ice cream (served with fresh mango, white sticky rice and coconut milk) was amazing!!

We were able to take pics of the outside grounds area of the house as well...

After an amazing 2 days in Bangkok, Jenny escorted us the the airport for our flight to Phuket (an island in the southern part of Thailand).  She was such a wonderful host, and such a sweet girl!

Here are a few pics of the amazing resort that Stampin' Up! found for us in Phuket, Thailand.....

To see a full video tour of our resort, just click here!

We visited a market in Padong, Phuket (these markets pop up everywhere in Thailand!)......

We also went on an adventure in a speedboat to Phang Nga Bay.  We started from this marina.  One of the things that we noticed in Thailand is that they use many natural resources (like these tree limbs for the dock posts).  And... the scenery we saw while on the speedboat was breathtaking....

We also visited a famous gypsy floating village.  It's literally a village built on the ocean, with shops, restaurants, and even a school!

We also went on a guided canoe trip to a stunning lagoon....

Stampin' Up! treated us to an amazing final evening event at the Blue Elephant restaurant, which is housed in a historic Phuket mansion.  Here we are at the resort before we headed out for the evening....

Thailand will forever hold a special place in my heart.  It was a fabulous trip!!

Thank you to Stampin' Up! and all of my wonderful customers and downline for another amazing trip!!
