Happy Birthday in Stampin' Up! In Colors!!

Do you remember seeing this card in my last blog post about the Annual New Catalog Kickoff Event??  If not, check it out here!

This was one of our make-n-takes at that event.  Here's a closer look at this fun card....

We start our card with a Thick Whisper White card base.  I have to tell you...  it took me a while to "get it" regarding this thick card stock....  I had been using our Regular Whisper White card stock for years as a card base without much thought for the thicker option (I always thought it was good enough, right??), but.....

Just for fun, we made one card with our Regular Whisper White Card Stock and another with our Thick Whisper White Card Stock at our Group Gathering last night, and there is a HUGE difference.  I noticed it as soon as I picked up the cards - I really think the thicker version is about 4 times as thick as our regular version.  The regular card stock/card base just seemed so flimsy!  I don't think I will ever use our regular Whisper White card stock as a card base again.  Now, that's not to say that it's not great for lots of other uses, just not as a card base!

Next, we added 1" strips of each of our In Colors to our card base - in Berry Burst (I finally have that name! - it's Burst, not Blast!), Lemon Lime Twist, Tranquil Tide, Powder Pink and Fresh Fig.

So simple, yet so bold!

Next, we die-cut that awesome Happy Birthday image with our Happy Birthday Thinlit.

This die is so easy to work with (and makes such an impact on the card!).  Just use the Big Shot Die Brush to release any remaining pieces from the die.

Finally, we added a Glitter Enamel Dot to the "i" in birthday!  These Glitter Enamel Dots are so much fun to play with!  You get 160 glittery dots in ombre shades, so no 2 are exactly alike!  I love the added sparkle they provide on this card!
